An Admission.
So… Becky and I bought each other a PlayStation 3 for Valentines day, and I have been, well, distressed (to say the least) to discover that my wife is better at video games than I am!
Good going, Beck!

This day was perfect. I just wanted to share a few more pictures with everyone.
- I’m so happy my dad made it to Durango!
- It’s official now.
- I was so happy to see my grandparents in Durango!
- Yay!
Our wedding photos
It’s only been some 5+ months since the wedding, but we’ve got our hands on our wedding photos now and are very happy to start printing and posting them. Here are a few, just for now. We’ll upload a link with everything, so you guys can download and print what you like. We bought the copyright from the photographer, so you don’t have to worry about that.
Blues & Brews
Last weekend, Sam and Carol were nice enough to take Sam and I up to Telluride to visit the Blues & Brews Festival at which Taj Mahal and Bonnie Raitt were playing!! It was a great time–so thank you guys for the fun times! The drive up was beautiful, the trees between Dolores and Telluride are changing and all of the Aspens were bright yellow. It rained on the way up, and was a little cold, but overall, the weather made for an interesting addition to this exciting day.
Bonnie Raitt and Taj were AWESOME–I think anyone who was there that day would agree with me. At one point during the show, it hailed! I took some photos of the adventure and weather, enjoy below! I really wish my mom and uncle could have been there. They are true blue Blues fans and would have loved to hear all of the great music.
Consulting, recipes and more…
Hey – I hope everyone is enjoying their last bits of Summer vacation, and I hope everyone who’s heading back to school is ready to conquer the new year. Good luck!
I’m not sure what you’ve heard, but Sam and I recently quit our jobs. Together. On the same day. Not even sure you’d heard we had jobs? Don’t worry, you’re probably not the only one! It was a quick development, we gave it a shot, and it certainly was a bad fit. We were offered jobs at a company in Mancos..doing what? I’m not really sure. I know that I was never interviewed, never applied for the job, and never really spoken to like a real person. I know I was dealt with through my husband. I know I was hired because I was Sam’s wife, not because of any particular skill I possessed, except for speaking English with the ability to type. I know I was doing data entry and I hated it. Sam was doing work on their website and online store. Not so ba
d for him, terrible for me. Doing a job a monkey could do in its sleep made me feel awful, no, useless. This was a completely new situation for me, especially having come from a successful real estate firm, of which I was the manager, and which notably consisted of mostly females in the company. Not to mention, some of the products they sold were questionable (since when is it A-OK to sell ‘sexy teenage fairy’ costumes??? And that’s not the worst of it!). Besides these things, the job originally sounded great, but the terms we were tempted with were quickly changed and my job turned out to be not at all what they made it out to be. This lasted exactly 2 weeks. We did meet some nice people there, but the job just wasn’t for us.
Anyways, this is all besides the point. We no longer work there, and have since started our consulting business full-time and it’s going GREAT. We work from home, have a flexible schedule, can be with our dogs and enjoy our lives. I am taking classes online to learn XHTML (which I am really enjoying) and to expand my current Photoshop skills. We’re still working out the schedule details, such as when to work and when to stop working–but I know that we are both much happier doing our own thing.
You’re probably wondering about the recipe bit in the title…well..I’ve recently been inspired to start trying some new recipes and have decided to share my adventures with ya’ll on this here blog. I’ve already posted my first recipe–you can check it out under the recipe tab–and keep an eye out for new ones. I’ll try to remember to let you know when a new one goes up.

We’re married!
First of all–a great big THANK YOU to everyone who came to our wedding–it would not have been the same without each and every one of you! Also, for those who were unable to make it– you were greatly missed and we hope to celebrate with you soon! Even though it poured rain not only on our rehearsal but our wedding, I don’t think either of us would have changed a thing. It was great to meet everyone, to put faces with all of the names I’ve been hearing over the last couple of years. We haven’t received any photos from the photographer yet, but we’ve been able to view them on his website. I’m just going to post a few photos taken by Ashley Eftink, Sam’s cousin (thanks Ashley!), a photo by Rachel (Sam’s sister–Thanks Rachel!), and some of the photos I took on the train ride to Silverton. It was a great time, and I’m really glad everyone was here. Enjoy the pictures, we’ll have more as soon as we get them from the photographer. We’ve been able to view them online, and there are a lot of great ones!
We’re moving!
Hey everyone! I hope this post finds everyone happy and well.
Just a little bit of news for everyone. Sam found us an excellent house available June 1, so we’re moving in 20 days.
Don’t worry about your reply cards, they will get forwarded to us at our new address. The house is great, a little ways out of town, with a beautiful back yard and deck area, we hope everyone will get a chance to come see it while in town. The new address, for those of you who are diligent in keeping an up-to-date address book, is 160 Forest Ridge Road, same town, same state, different zip (81303). We’re really excited (and maybe a little stressed) about getting everything done in time, but we’ll make it, I’m sure.
Also, Sam and I realized after we sent out the invites, that a few people may have received reply envelopes with .42 cent stamps on them, hopefully this won’t end up being too big of an inconvenience for anyone. Sorry about that! We’re beginner wedding planners and don’t plan on becoming experts in the art of wedding planning (since we’ll only do it this once!)
In other news, I’m taking a trip to ABQ on May 22nd to visit Sam’s sister Rachel, Austin, Zoe, Theo and Silas–unfortunately, Sam can’t make it this time, but I know it will be great fun, nonetheless! I’m looking forward to some time with Rachel & the fam, some time out of Durango, and now not to mention the packing I will be getting out of! (Sam’s so good to me!)
I’ll try to get Sam to make a post here one of these days!
Love to everyone near and far!

Hi, I'm Izzy!
Meet Izzy, the newest member of our family. Izzy comes to us from the La Plata County Humane Society. She had been a member of the ‘Lonely Hearts’ club–meaning she had been at the shelter longer than 45 days. She had actually been there since 10.17.08. She is a spunky two year old retriever mix. She’s a snuggler, with the sweetest disposition. She and Barkley are getting along great–they play and wrestle all day long. Barkley seems very happy to have a friend. We haven’t had the time to get her into the groomer yet, but we can’t wait to get her a bath and a trim. Since she’s been at the house, she’s really come out of her shell–what a lot of energy she has. We recently had a big snow storm here, with over a foot of snow. When I let the dogs out into the yard, Izzy barrels out into the snow that is up to her chest and runs all the way to the back of the yard and back and forth like a mad woman!
- Hi, I’m Izzy!
- Izzy, calm for once!
- Iz, relaxing
- Barkley sharing his bed with Izzy
- Don’t worry, they’re just playing–Promise!!!
- A little indoor rough-housing never hurt anyone!
